Create a targeted audience for Facebook advertising

When you start advertising with Facebook, and are using ads manager inside of business manager, you will be able to create custom audiences with the 3 main types.

When you start advertising with Facebook, and are using ads manager inside of business manager, you will be able to create custom audiences with the 3 main types. In my next series of blogs I am going to really dive into the different audience types. So first – let’s take some time to review the 3 primary types (and each type will be discussed in their own blog over the next 3 weeks).

1. Saved Audience

This is your chance to create an audience with some specific customer personal behaviours and interests – and then save it to use in various ad campaigns.

Think of a really big list of things, and you get to check off which one applies to the audience you are marketing to. Saved audiences are easy to create and can be a great starting point to targeted audiences.

2. Custom Audience

These audiences can be some of your most high-value targeted audiences. They might be an uploaded list from years and years of customers, or specific data that is linked to your website. A custom audience typically knows you, or at least knows of you.

You can be a bit more specific in your marketing to the 4 different custom audiences. They sort of know who you are and what you do, and now it’s time to get in front of them as much as possible.

3. Look A Like Audience

These audiences are really effective at reaching customers who are interested in a product or service like the one that you provide. So, basically, they want to buy … they just don’t know from who yet. And that’s when your ad shows up.

Follow me over the next few weeks as I dive deeper into the different ways to create audiences for Facebook and Instagram. If you are going to be advertising on these platforms, these following weeks will be your guide to creating custom, targeted audiences.
